Joy-Elise Image Transfer Sign – Sculpture

Here is another 1st child 1st gift I made for a life long friend’s daughter. Using a traditional image transfer technique of acrylic medium image transfer, I created this framed vintage inspired sign on wood. It takes a lot of time and patience to get the image to transfer and not rub off too much. I first designed the image using Adobe Illustrator, printed on a laser jet printer and applied acrylic polyurethane to the wood surface, let dry for 24hrs and began the wetting and rubbing process. Initially I attempted an acetone image transfer process, while it worked with immediate results, the image was not as saturated / vibrant as I would have liked, thus returning to the longer process of the gel medium transfer.
