Background
As a professor I’ve had the privilege of leading four sections of Art 74 Intro to Digital Media Art at San Jose State University. Through developing my own curriculum, lectures and projects, I have witnessed the evolution of student’s skills from non-user to experts in creating conceptual artwork via the tools shown in class. Intro to Digital Media Art is intended to introduce students to the vast possibilities of the digital practice through technology that we encounter every day.
Philosophy
My goal as professor is to introduce students to areas of emerging digital media, in hopes that students of all practices will realize the importance of digital media beyond the utilitarian use. Through the use of artistic appropriation, these tools can be used to create highly conceptual and aesthetic works of art. My end goal is to leave students with a new found appreciation in the ever-developing field of new media and produce artwork they feel proud to show as part of their portfolios.
